President Trump is visibly angry about losing the battle to put his name on the Kennedy Center. After a federal judge blocked a planned two-year shutdown and name change, Trump went on a lengthy Truth Social tirade, blasting Judge Christopher Cooper as a “highly conflicted, crooked federal judge” and even targeting the judge’s wife, Amy Jeffress.
But here is the reality: he cannot unilaterally change a landmark authorized by Congress. In a fascinating display of all the stages of grief happening at once, Trump has effectively thrown in the towel and announced he is backing away from the project. This is classic lame-duck status.
