“Release the money.” That was the clear directive from U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, ordering the immediate transfer of $5.8 million from an escrow account directly to E. Jean Carroll.
While Trump’s legal team has relied on a signature “delay, delay, delay” strategy—most recently citing a newly appointed lawyer to buy more time—Judge Kaplan made it clear that enough is enough. In a blistering memorandum, Kaplan noted that the defendant has been stalling for years and declared it is finally time to “do equity and pay the judgment.”
Though Trump’s team immediately filed an emergency notice of appeal to block the physical transfer of the cash, it only forestsalls the inevitable. The primary appeals have run their course. The money will be moving, and the legal road has reached its end.
